 Book Arts
Beej Nierengarten-Smith creates hand-constructed and hand-printed
books as original works of art, dealing with themes that
are autobiographical, unexpected, and sometimes whimsical.
Frequently these books and their matching boxes are used
to complement her prints.
Beej utilizes all book art structural forms and frequently
uses a hand-built box or found box as a container for her
books.
Beej has received wide recognition for her exquisitely
crafted handmade books and book boxes, including Best of
Show for Professional Artist Books at the 2005 New Mexico
State Fair and an award in the 2005 Land of Enchantment exhibition
at the PaperGami Gallery in Albuquerque.
